Joe Playing Makes No Difference

17 December 2015

Steve Davis has told the club's official web-site that professionalism overrides family ties.

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that having his other son Joe lining up in the Fleetwood side this weekend will makes no difference.

The Alex boss has faced his son before when he was a Port Vale player. Crewe ended up winning the game 3-1 and Joe Davis was withdrawn in the first half after picking up a booking for a foul on Uche Ikpeazu.

It was a memorable day for the Davis family, with Harry also in the Crewe starting XI.

Ahead of this weekend’s home game against the Cod Army, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Having the possibility of Joe in the Fleetwood team makes no difference to me. He is a great professional and we don’t talk about it. I only ask him how he is doing and go and watch him whenever I can, like any father would.

“He is living up there and we hardly see him to discuss anything anyway. That is the way it should be. Joe wants to get the result for Fleetwood and I want to get the result for Crewe.

The boss added: “We are all professional, and that includes Harry, we are a family but when it comes to the work and the football we are all very professionals and only want the best for our clubs.”
