Decision On Bakayogo Soon

10 December 2015

Steve Davis says left-back Zoumana still under consideration after fightback to fitness.

Steve Davis says that he will make a decision over the future of Zoumana Bakayogo shortly. The former Leicester City and Tranmere Rovers defender has been training with the club since the summer as he recovers from a cruciate ligament injury.

The Paris born 29-year-old has done remarkably well to get back from two years of injury and after making a long awaited return to playing in pre-season, he has featured for the club’s Under-21s this season as he builds up his match fitness.

The Crewe boss told the club’s official web-site: “I will look to make a decision on Zoumana soon. We are still talking about and assessing our options.

“He has done extremely well to get back after two years out of the game. It is difficult to do that and he has worked extremely hard.

“We could do with some cover at left-back because Stephen (Kingsley) has returned to Swansea. We have Jon Guthrie who can play there or we would have transfer Ollie (Turton) over to the other side if needs be and bring James Baillie or Perry (Ng) in on the left.

He added: “It is something we have to give serious consideration to because we have a lot of games coming up over Christmas and New Year.”
