Boss Wants To Keep Loan Players

15 December 2015

Steve Davis is eager to keep some of his loan players in January.

Steve Davis has told the Crewe Alexandra's official web-site that he has already held meetings with the Club Chairman John Bowler ahead of January.

The Alex have four loan players up for renewal in the New Year and Davis has made it known that he would be eager to keep them depending on injuries to other players in his squad.

Adam King, Ryan Lowe, Semi Ajayi and goalkeeper Daniel Nizic are the club’s current crop of loan players and Davis will also look to strength his options with another left-back after Stephen Kingsley retuned to Swansea after his three-month loan expired.

Steve says: “I’ve already had meetings with the chairman over what we are trying to do in January. We have some decisions to make over our loan players and much will depend on what their clubs want to do with them. They may want to have them back and that would mean we would have to look elsewhere, but I would like to keep some of them.

“We will also have to assess our own injured players to see who is likely to come back in the New Year. Dave Richards and Harry Davis are both making good progress, so that is something we will have to consider as well.

“We have also discussed what we could need to fill some gaps in the squad if some of them do go back. We have spoken about a left-back because we are having to play Jon (Guthrie) there and are a bit light in that position.

“There are a few decisions to make but I would only ever have five loan signings because we can only include five in the squad and I have never thought it right to have more than that and have one or two sat in the stand.”
