Youngsters Offer Something Different

Boss says he introduced Coops and Coco as subs because they are potential game changers.

rewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says he introduced young wide men George Cooper and Ryan Colclough as second half substitutes’ last night as he aimed for something different in the final third. With Crewe chasing the game at 2-1 down to Championship side Preston North End, Cooper and Colclough replaced Brad Inman and Marcus Haber to push Lauri Dalla Valle through the centre.

Colclough and Cooper threatened the Preston goal on occasions with both combining well to result in Cooper drilling an effort into the side netting and Cooper also firing over after a neat exchange of passes with Billy Bingham. Colclough also posed a threat cutting in from the left but he dragged a couple of efforts wide.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I made the change at that stage because the two young boys are potential game changers. They do offer us something different and can take a goal.

“They are both good young players and I just felt we had to try something different with Lauri going through the middle.

“I thought Brad (Inman) had a really decent game but Ryan can give us something different on that side and I felt we had to try it for the final 20 minutes or so.”
