Steve: "Delighted Coco Has Signed"

7 August 2015

Boss relieved that talented forward was agreed to continue his development with us.

Alex boss Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he is pleased and relieved that Ryan Colclough’s future has been finally resolved this week. The talented winger, 20, penned a new two-year contract yesterday and he is available for selection for this weekend’s opener against Port Vale at the Alexandra Stadium.

Colclough ended the season in great form, scoring twice against Sheffield United and Coventry to help Crewe escape the drop into League Two.

On Coco agreeing to continue his development at Crewe, Steve told crewealex.net: “I am just relieved that the whole saga is finished and that it’s been resolved the way we wanted it to go.”

“He has made a good decision, it has taken a while to get there but we are delighted he’s signed.

“We have got a good, a game-changing player and he wants to do well, but he is catching up for lost time to a degree.

“We welcome him to the squad for the Port Vale game, what he now needs to do is get in the team.”

He added: “He has lost a little bit of match fitness because we haven’t been able to play him.”

“He has not been able to do some of the afternoon sessions because the morning ones have taken it out of him so in that respect he has probably done two thirds of what the rest of the group have done.”
