Scunthorpe Can Be Up There

14 August 2015

Steve Davis firmly believes that Robins' investment could see them challenging for promotion.

Steve Davis believes that this weekend’s opponents Scunthorpe United are now well equipped to challenge for promotion. Iron manager Mark Robins has invested wisely in the summer to strengthen his squad, purchasing a number of talented players such as our former loanee midfielder Jamie Ness and Rochdale’s Stephen Dawson.

Davis feels that Scunthorpe have every right to be optimistic of a potential top six finish following their investment this summer.

Ahead of our weekend encounter, the boss told crewealex.net: “There has been a big turnaround of personnel at Scunthorpe and Mark has had room to invest. He has changed a number of players, so it will be interesting to see how they line up and what system he will go with.

“What you hope at this stage of the season is that the new players haven’t had time to gel as much as they would like. We have three new midfielders ourselves and it does takes new players time to know their team-mates game.

“Hopefully, it will be a good time to play them because I do think that once they settle down and they can name their best team most weeks then they have the right blend of experience and young players to have a good season.

“Mark has built a good, strong squad and they are certainly good enough to be around the top six this season. It will be a good test for us.”
