Ray Given All Clear

25 August 2015

Defender cleared to be involved at Wigan's DW Stadium after injury scare.

Crewe Alexandra can confirm that centre-half George Ray has been medically checked over and has been given the all-clear to resume training. Ray was forced off in the first half against Bury after complaining of irregular breathing. The defender took a hefty knock to his throat and following a period of discomfort on the pitch, he had to be replaced by youngster James Baillie.

Jon Guthrie moved into the centre of defence and the versatile Ollie Turton switched to left-back.

Steve Davis confirmed that Ray has successfully returned to training and will be fit and available for this weekend’s away clash at Wigan Athletic.

Steve told crewealex.net: “George has been checked over by the club doctor and the medical staff here and he is fine. He has been in and training.

“He got a bang in the throat and found his breathing more difficult, so we had to make the change. We have checked everything over and he is fine.”
