Steve Davis on his loan capture from Swansea City
Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says that the club have been able to land the highly-rated Stephen Kingsle because of patience and perseverance. Steve had chased the Swansea City starlet for much of the summer after highlighting the Scotland Under-21 International as his top loan target if Greg Leigh rejected our offer of a permanent deal.
Once Leigh chose Bradford, Davis did have other options to fill the left-back void, but Kingsley, 21, was always his first choice and he is delighted that his hard work has paid off.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Stephen is close to the Swansea first-team squad. He is on the fringes of that and he did well in pre-season for them.
“Of course, it is difficult to break into the starting XI of any Premier League team and Stephen wanted some competitive games.
“He has been our main target for most of the summer. We have been talking about Stephen and the possibility of bringing here for almost four months. I am just pleased that our patience has paid off.
“Stephen, his agent and Swansea have been as good as their word throughout. Once there was a possibility of him coming out on loan then Stephen was keen to come here because we had kept in touch throughout the summer.
“Keeping in contact with him and wanting him to come here has paid off. He is an exciting left-back, who enjoys getting forward and he wants to play. He has a great attitude and he wants the challenge of playing league football.”
