Fox On Bury Clash

21 August 2015

Midfielder looks forward to Shakers clash at Gresty Road

David Fox believes that the investment Bury have made this summer could see them land back-to-back promotions. The experienced midfielder, 31, who has captained the side in the absence of the injured Harry Davis played under Bury boss David Flitcroft at Barnsley and he says there will be no resting on their laurels with him in charge at Gigg Lane.

Fox, who joined the club in the summer after he left Colchester United, told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “Bury won promotion last season and they will be thinking about achieving back-to-back promotions. That is happening more regularly now. You find clubs that can go through the leagues fairly quickly.

“Bury are trying to move forward. They have moved into Manchester City’s old training ground at Carrington, so they have some great facilities and have of course made a strong investment in the team.

“When you have clubs like Bury and Scunthorpe spending money like they are and the teams dropping down from the Championship then you can see why the league is getting harder.

“Bury have gone out and bought Leon Clarke and Tom Pope to the club and we know they are a handful. They are top quality strikers for this level and we will have to defend well to contain them and that is all eleven of us not just the back four.

“I played under David (Flitcroft) when we were both at Barnsley and he is a very good manager. He is a very ambitious young manager and I am sure he will be looking to make sure Bury are right up.

He added: “That brings its own expectations and pressure but when the whistle goes at the weekend, it will just be another normal game.”
