Boss will still give his number one target time despite him picking up a slight injury.
Steve Davis says that plans to sign his number one left-back on loan has suffered a slight delay after the intended target picked up a slight knee injury. The Crewe Alexandra boss is prepared to give the Championship player more time but admits that he and his coaching staff have discussed other possibilities for the position.
At the moment the versatile Jon Guthrie is filling in at left full-back but Davis is eager to add a more attack minded defender to his options.
Steve revealed to the club’s official web-site: “There has been no change with the left-back. He is still in discussion with his club and he picked up a slight injury. It is nothing too serious but it could mean he is out for a couple of weeks.
“That has delayed it a bit and all we can do is wait a bit longer. It is an important position for us because I want a left-footer who will give us something in the attacking third. He would help us.
“We do have the games coming thick and fast, so we have discussed other options and we have one or two players offered to us, but we will still give the lad some more time to see if it can be resolved. If not then we will have to look elsewhere because I won’t let it drag on for a month or two.
“What I do know is that he would improve us if he came.”
