Steve says wide man can 'produce something out of nothing'
Crewe boss Steve Davis says Ryan Colclough has the ability to ‘produce something out of nothing’ to help the team acquire points. Colclough is close to regaining his full match fitness after being left out of the majority of pre-season games as his future was resolved.
The Stoke-on-Trent born winger signed a new two-year deal and after coming off the bench for the first three games of the season, he started at Coventry City on Tuesday night.
Steve Davis says the 20-year-old forward has the potential to be a game changer from various positions.
The Crewe boss told the club’s official web-site: “Every team needs a potential match winner. You need at least one. I think we have a few and Ryan is one of them. On his day he can produce something out of the ordinary to get you something from the game.
“You have to rely on these players to change games and Ryan and Brad (Inman) can provide that threat.
“I took Ryan off on Tuesday because he is short of match fitness and we didn’t want him to break down. I didn’t want to take him off and I left him on for as long as I could because we thought he could create or score a goal in that second half.
The Alex boss added: “He will play more of a part once he is fully fit and in those tight games he could be the difference.”
