Changes Were Made For Future

25 August 2015

Steve Davis says he decided to make changes to his backroom staff to evolve for the future.

teve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he thought long and hard about making adjustments to his back room staff. Crewe Alexandra confirmed yesterday that James Collins will concentrate solely on coaching the first-team and that Alex Morris will now take the clubs’ Under-21 Development Squad. S

Neil Baker will focus his input to recruitment and tactical preparation for the first team alongside chief analyst Charlie Ager.

Kenny Lunt will now be in charge of the Under-18s and Youth Team and will be assisted by our former player Lee Bell, who has been offered a full-time role within the Academy.

Steve explained his decision making to the club’s official web-site: “Over the summer I thought long and hard about my back room staff and how best we could utilise their abilities.

“I had to do some soul searching and make some tough decisions but I have some great staff here who have a lot of passion for the Football Club. I just wanted us to work a lot smarter and make best of use of them.

“I wanted them to work on things that they are good and not waste time on aspects of the good that they are perhaps not so good at. I want them working in areas they are strong in.

He added: “I made my presentation to the board and they supported me in making those changes to place my staff in the best positions. It is important for the Football Club to have staff who know the Crewe way and have that passion for the club. I think it is important for the future of the Football Club and it is always good to promote from within.”
