Steve Davis says young centre-half will only get better at just 22.
As a former centre-half himself, Steve Davis, has been quick to praise the competitiveness of his new summer signing Ben Nugent. The former Cardiff City youngster has certainly caught the eye in his first two games for the club since signing a two-year deal and the Crewe Alexandra boss says there is more to come from the 22-year-old.
Following the club’s League Cup exit to Championship side Preston, Steve said: “Ben is a real competitor and you can’t have enough of those types in your team.
“He is in a position there at the back where he competes for everything and he is still a young boy. He is only 22 and there is a lot more to come from him.
The boss added: “He is an old fashioned type of centre-half. He likes to compete, he is a strong lad, gets his head on things and he is a decent on the floor for a big man as well.”
