Boss Impressed By Improved Sky Blues

19 August 2015

Steve believes Tony Mowbray's side could mount serious promotion push

Steve Davis believes his Crewe Alexandra side were up against a much improved Coventry City side last night. The Alex boss has been impressed with the work Tony Mowbray has achieved at the Ricoh Arena and he feels that the Sky Blues may be equipped to challenge for promotion this season.

Crewe lost a five-goal thriller late on at the Ricoh Arena last night and Davis feels that if the Sky Blues can continue to play in a similar fashion then they could be serious contenders for a top six finish in League One.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Coventry have made a great start to the season and their other two results have been fairly straight forward. They had kept two clean-sheets and won fairly easily.

“They didn’t have it easy against us because we went for it and gave it a go. It took them until the final few minutes to win the game with a really well struck goal.

“Tony has built a new team and implement his own ideas and he has some good players. They could be there if they could continue to improve.”
