Boss Hints At Changes For Preston Clash

10 August 2015

Steve says Wednesday's League Cup tie could see him make one or two changes.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he may consider making changes for our mid-week League Cup tie against Preston North End. The Alex boss has certainly used the closed season to increase the competition in his squad and he has hinted that our first round tie on Wednesday could see him try out ‘one or two different things’.

Crewe take on Simon Grayson’s newly promoted Championship side at the Alexandra Stadium on Wednesday evening with kick off at 7.45pm.

Ahead of our meeting with last season’s play-off winners, Steve told crewealex.net: “We will work towards Wednesday night and what will be another difficult game for us.

“Preston are a good side and were one of the most impressive in our league last season. I thought they were very good last season, especially when we went to their place towards the end of the season.

“They are in the Championship now so I don’t know if Simon will use the game to make one or two changes, but I could look at it and change one or two things.

Steve added: “We will assess the players at the beginning of the week and see who came through the game okay before I will decide. We have given them a bit of time to recover but the work towards Wednesday has already started. We will have to take the confidence and positives we can take from the Port Vale into Wednesday night because we know it will be another test for us but one we are looking forward to. “
