Bakes Will Play Key Role Tactically

25 August 2015

Steve Davis says Neil Baker will play a key role in recruitment and preparing the team tactically.

Steve Davis has told crewealex.net that the vastly experienced Neil Baker will be very much involved in preparing the first-team for matches.

Baker has been moved into the head of recruitment role at the Football Club, but he will also be assisting the manager and first team coach James Collins when it comes to tactical preparation for first-team matches.

Baker’s vast experience in recruitment over many years has seen the likes of Tom Pope, Steve Jones, John Brayford, Luke Varney and Justin Cochrane all arrive from non-league.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Neil is still very part of our first team plans but I wanted to utilise his strong points which is on the tactical side and recruitment. He is very strong on the tactical side of things.

“His strength is identifying changes in games and preparing the team accordingly. He will be making a presentation to the squad prior to the games and will work closely with Charlie Ager (video analyst) in preparing that. Charlie has taken on a more technical role and they will also look at players and identify possible targets.

He added: “It is a bit different for them but I think it will make us stronger in the things we do. I wanted the right people in the right jobs to make us more efficient.”
