We Will Approach Things With Positivity

Boss says with five games to go, it is time to step up to the plate

Steve Davis says that it is up to everyone to step up the challenge of securing enough points to make sure that Crewe Alexandra are playing in League One next season. It remains extremely tight at the bottom of the table with as many as ten teams still involved.

Crewe host fellow strugglers Leyton Orient at the Alexandra Stadium on Saturday when three points in the race to stay up could prove vital to both clubs. Davis says that with five games remaining, it is time to step up to the challenge.

Steve told the club’s official web-site:  “The challenge is there for us to step up. We have to keep going and the fixtures are there for us to get enough points. They are all hard games at this level but we have shown on our day that we can compete with anyone.

“What I have to do is keep the players going. We will approach it in a positive way and make sure their heads don’t drop. We will make sure they are mentally and physically right for the last five games.

“Some of them found it hard going at Chesterfield but I couldn’t fault the effort of any of them. They worked hard against a very good side but just fell a bit short on the day.

He added: “We are not a team who will go into games and think about shutting up shop. I don’t think we are particularly good at that. We will try and win every game and make sure we get the points we need.”
