Ikpeazu targets goals and assists as his full fitness returns

Uche Ikpeaqzu is targeting some goals as quickly as possible to help Crewe Alexandra avoid the drop into League Two. The on-loan Watford striker has failed to get off the mark during his third spell at the club following an indifferent spell at our League One rivals Doncaster Rovers.

Whilst at the Keepmoat Stadium, Ikpeazu missed out crucial on game time and was recalled by his parent club ahead of another loan move to Crewe.

Ahead of this weekend’s crucial clash at Gresty Road against Leyton Orient, Ikpeazu told us: “We’ve just got to take every game as it comes and not try and look too far forward. We obviously need to try and win games and I need to try and get on the score sheet and to set-up goals. I’m trying all that and working really hard on my fitness and everything I can. I’m only going to get better game-by-game.

“Personally, I don’t think I’m near my best at all, but when I do get there I do believe I can help the team in every way if not by goals, then by setting up and bringing people into play.

Uche added: “Because of the way results have gone, this game against Leyton Orient is a massive now and we all know that in the dressing room. We know what we have to do and every player is going out there to work hard and hopefully pull off the right result.”
