Jones Looking Forward To Final Challenge

Midfielder on the biggest game of his young career

Crewe Alexandra midfielder James Jones is looking forward to the biggest game of his young career this weekend. The 19-year-old has really established himself in Steve Davis’ first team plans during the second half of the season and the Academy graduate has now featured in 25 games, scoring his first senior goal in a 3-2 win at Colchester United back in early February.

Jones is growing with confidence with every game he is involved in and the cultured midfielder is aiming to end a superb first season by helping Crewe secure their League One status with a result against Bradford City this Sunday.

Jones told Crewe Alex Player: “We managed to get a great result at Coventry on Saturday and we are looking forward to the game on Sunday. Hopefully we can repeat the way we played at Coventry and get the three points. That is all we are focussed on.

“It was a great experience to play at that Stadium last weekend, in that type of atmosphere. Our fans were great and it was a great feeling to have won such an important game with them all there.

“It has been a great experience for me playing in League One. All the lads have helped me and I just want to repay the faith the manager and the staff have shown me. I learn something new every game.

“It will be another tough game this weekend against a big club. We would have liked to have wrapped things up but after the start we made to the season to have it in our own hands is all we could have asked for.”
