Jamie Ness On Relegation Battle

On loan midfielder says Crewe have the right mentality to avoid the drop

On loan midfielder Jamie Ness believes that there is enough ability in the Crewe Alexandra dressing room to make sure we acquire the points we will need to remain in League One next season. The on-loan Stoke starlet says there are as many as ten clubs still very much involved in the battle against relegation and Ness believes we are mentality equipped to deal with the pressure building with each passing game.

Ahead of this weekend’s home clash with Leyton Orient, the former O’s loanee told us: “We know what we have to do and it is still in our hands with the games we have against some of the sides that are down there with us.

“It is important that we try and get the points we will need to make sure we are safe. As a player it is always a great experience to be playing with something on the game but rest assured we would much rather be safe!

“It is still very close down there and a couple of wins could have us right out it. I think there are as many as ten teams still in danger of going out of the league and we will be doing our best to make sure that we are not one of them dropping out.

“It is a very competitive league but we have shown on our day that we can anyone and we have a talented squad here. We have the mentality to pick up the wins we will need. Of course they are all massive games now but all we can do is focus on ourselves and make sure we perform to our maximum.

“As a player you just try and treat it like any other game and then look at things afterwards. I cannot talk for the rest of the lads but that is how I approach it. You cannot take other issues with you out onto the pitch.

“I know that if we can play to our potential and play well enough then we are more than capable of getting the win. Obviously, a few of the boys went through it last season and we have Granty and Tatey, who have great experience.

He added: “They are helping us out and it is a good group of lads here. We have the right mentality to get out of it.”
