Davis Praise For Tate Character

21 April 2015

Steve Davis delighted that injured Tate has elected to remain with us for remaining two games.

Steve Davis has praised the professionalism and character of his on-loan defender Alan Tate after he elected to remain in Crewe despite being ruled out for the season. Tate, on loan from Swansea City, suffered a small fracture in his ankle away at Peterborough recently and although his recovery time is estimated at a month, his injury was untimely for the club who have benefitted from the centre-half’s vast experience.

Tate, who has also played in a holding midfield role this season, could have returned to his parent club for treatment but on his own accord has remained at the club to help the lads escape the drop into League Two.

Steve Davis was delighted to see Alan remain at the club for the remaining two weeks of the season.

The Crewe Alexandra boss told crewealex.net: “Alan could have quite easily have said that’s me done and he could have returned to Swansea, but he is still here and he wants to be here.

The boss added: “I didn’t have a conversation with him about it. That his decision and it shows the character of the man that he wants to be here and help us in any way he can. His experience has been important to us and we are delighted to have him still here because he is a good lad to have around the place.”
