Davis: "Posh Will Be Aiming High"

Steve Davis expects tough encounter against Robbo's Peterborough

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis expects another difficult encounter at Peterborough this evening. The Posh still have an outside chance of sneaking a play-off place but being seven points off the play-off positions will have to realistically win their remaining four games to stand any chance of achieving that.

Davis says that the Posh will be aiming to finish the season as high as possible and that their interim manager Dave Robertson will be aiming to convince the club that he is man to lead them into next season.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Peterborough still have an outside chance of the play-offs. That will be difficult with the games running out, but they will be wanting to finish as high as they can that is for sure.

“Their manager Dave Robertson is interested in having the job on a full-time basis next season and he will be demanding the maximum from his players.

“They have some dangerous players, we know that, and Marcus Madison was outstanding against us when we played them earlier in the season. He is very athletic and was impressive.

“We know it won’t be an easy game but hopefully we can play better than them and be rewarded for it.

“We have managed to keep things relatively tight in the last four or five games and teams have found it difficult to break us down. We have defended reasonably well and haven’t conceded too many but we haven’t been able to score the goals at the other end either.

He added: “If we can keep a clean-sheet then that would be fantastic and I am confident that if we can play like we can and be dangerous in the final third, then we can score the goals.”
