Steve Davis pleased with Paul's point saving performance against Orient
Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis praised the performance of his goalkeeper Paul Rachubka after he made some crucial saves in the 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient. As the O’s began to apply some concerted pressure at the beginning of the second half, the former Leeds and Oldham stopper made two point saving saves to deny Chris Dagnall and young Ryan Hedges a probable winner.
Crewe emerged with a hard fought point from a tough contest and Rachubka claimed the Man-of—the-Match accolade from the sponsors at the end of the game.
Steve told crewealex.net: “Paul was good for us and has been fine since he came here. He hadn’t played for a while when he first came so it took him a bit of time to adjust, but he made some important saves for us against Orient.
“He made some saves that you would expect your goalkeeper to make but he also produced one or two that were exceptional. That is what Ben was doing before he was injured, so I was pleased with Paul and his performance. He did well.
He added: “I thought the back four were fine in front of him, albeit they gave possession away a few times and Lauri (Dalla Valle) worked his socks off for the team. He deserved his goal for the effort he put in. They all worked hard to make sure we got a point in what was a tough second half for us.”
