Steve decides against taking the centre half on loan after his trial

Crewe Alexandra Manager Steve Davis has confirmed that Bournemouth trialist Stephane Zubar will not be joining the club on loan after running the rule on the defender during a trial period.

Zubar linked up and trained with the Alex last week before playing 90 minutes in the 3-1 U21 defeat to Colchester at Gresty Road on Monday evening.

Having had the opportunity to assess Zubar, Davis has opted against completing a loan deal and the towering centre-half will now return to the Cherries on the South Coast.

Davis said about the defender's time at Crewe: "We spoke about him last night and then again this morning. He has been good enough to come up here and have a short trial with us and has been very good around the place, he has been a pleasure to work with."

The manager has confirmed that the hunt for reinforcements continues ahead of Saturday's match with Port Vale.
