1 September 2014

Collins' U21's come up short in the west country

Crewe Alexandra U21's couldn't build on impressive opening day victory as Bristol City sent James Collins' side back to Cheshire pointless.

A goal in each half from City's Wes Burns & Lewis Hall gave the hosts a 2-0 victory over an experimental Alex side, filled mainly with youth players.

Joe Howell & Liam O'Neill has early chances for the Railwaymen, but Bristol went in front after 37 minutes when Burns twisted & turned his marker before sliding home from 16 yards.

Toby Mullarkey had a chance to level matters just before the break, but the hots doubled their advantage 14 minutes into the second half when Hall floated a curling effort over the keeper.

After two games, the Alex U21's have now won one, lost one, after an opening 4-2 home success over Brentford.

The team are next in action on Monday 8th September at home against Colchester United.

Crewe Alex U21: Trialist (GK), Neal, Audel, Ng, Baillie, Cooper, Mullarkey, Howell, O'Neil, Prichard-Ellis, Saunders.
