Tate's Experience Will Be Vital

26 September 2014

Steve Davis delighted to capture Swansea defender

Steve Davis is sure that his recent loan signing Alan Tate will make a major difference to his young squad. Tate has joined the club on a 93-days emergency loan from Swansea City and will go straight into the Crewe squad for the visit of Colchester United tomorrow.

Davis was keen to bring in a central defender of experience and Tate, who has come through the divisions with the Swans and worked under some top managers like Roberto Martinez and Brendan Rodgers, is an ideal capture with Crewe currently in the relegation zone.

The Alex boss is understandably delighted to have signed the 32-year-old on emergency loan.

Steve told crewealex.net: “I have spoken to Alan (Tate) on the phone and since he has come in and he is delighted to be here. He was always keen to come here and help us and be involved. He is a good guy and a proper football guy.

“I am glad we have been able to get him here, as I am sure we will only benefit from his great experience. The younger ones will be able to lean on that experience a bit and I am sure Alan will make a difference both on and off the pitch.

The Alex manager added: “He knows the level. He has gone through the leagues with Swansea and was on loan at Yeovil in the Championship last season so he knows what to expect. I’m sure he will be a real help around the squad because he is a real leader and has that character we have been looking for.”
