Support Has Been Fantastic

30 September 2014

Steve praise for the fans and board for their support through a difficult time

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he has continued to receive fantastic support from sections of the Alex faithful and from the club’s board of directors.

The Alex boss has stressed that disappointed supporters are entitled to vent their frustration with the way the season has started but he has also revealed he has received numerous letters, emails and text messages of support as well.

Ahead of our home game against Notts County, the Alex boss told the club’s official web-site: “You are always going to be criticised when things are not going well. That is part and parcel of the game, especially in the modern era.

“All you can do is remain positive and believe in what you want to do and have that belief in your players. I am as frustrated as the fans because I expected to be doing better than we are. The players feel the same as I do. What I do know is that we will battle through it.

“It has to be everyone, the management, the players, the staff here and the supporters. They have been brilliant with me. Apart from a very minority, one or two, they have been fine with me and always very supportive.

“It is a close knit club and I receive letters and texts of support from the fans. They are always supportive and want us to do well.

“It is the same with the board of directors after the game. They are very supportive from the minute I walk through the door. It has been like that ever since I came into the club five years ago.

“I have a great relationship with John (Bowler) and the other directors here. They give their opinions and I take on board what they say because they have a lot of experience and know the Football Club better than most.

He added: “They are board members but are supporters as well, just like we all are. They want us to be successful and everyone is working hard to turn things around here.”
