Striker now top priority as boss looks to add another new face to his squad

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that the recent loan signings of winger Febian Brandy and experienced defender Alan Tate does not spell the end of his recruitment drive. The Alex boss is still looking to improve his squad further with one or two more players.

Davis has been chasing a striker to help Marcus Haber, Billy Waters and Vadaine Oliver out in terms of goals and he is aiming to bring in another natural wide man in if the right one becomes available.

Davis has been after a particular centre-forward for a while now, but admits that the process has been slow over the last couple of weeks because his club are reluctant to allow him to leave on loan at the moment. It has led to a stalemate of frustration but Davis is not giving up hope.

Steve told crewealex.net: “It has been frustrating in relation to the forward because it has been a slow process.

“His club don’t seem overly keen on letting him out at the moment and it has become something of a waiting game because the player is eager to get out and play some games.

The boss added: “There are one or two others that we do have in mind but when you are going for quality then you are going to have other clubs interested as well. I am sure that if we can get a forward in with a record of scoring goals then that is only going to help us.”
