Vadaine Oliver hopes boss will stick with two big strikers

Vadaine Oliver is hoping he will continue to get a chance to work alongside fellow striker Marcus Haber in the wake of the heavy 6-1 defeat at the MK Dons last weekend. The Alex struggled to mount too many attacks with the front two generally starved of possession and genuine chances.

Oliver was withdrawn late on to be replaced by our Football League debutant George Cooper. Vadaine, 22, says he is enjoying his partnership with the Canadian International at the moment and feels that they will only improve the more opportunities they get to play together.

Vadaine told Crewe Alex Player: “I am enjoying it at the moment, playing up there with Marcus (Haber)

“He is another big target man who is good in the air and I think we have given defenders some problems with our physical presence.

“I think we have worked well together as a partnership and have allowed the midfield to get up the pitch quicker and join us. We have combined well in the games as well, although that wasn’t so apparent at the MK Dons last week because we had a lot of defending to do and we struggled to have much possession.

“We now have a chance to bounce back from last weekend with two home games. If we can pick up some points then our league position would look a lot healthier.”
