How We Bounce Back Now

Davis says the best way to get MK Dons defeat out of the system is by picking up the points on Saturday

Steve Davis has welcomed the free week to work with his Crewe Alexandra players again on the training ground. Davis was left shell-shocked by Saturday’s 6-1 defeat at MK Dons and will work with his players this week to make sure they restore some lost confidence.

The Railwaymen arrived at stadium:mk in good form thanks to a first win of the season against Port Vale and a hard fought draw away at Yeovil, but we were simply second best all over the pitch against Karl Robinson’s side.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We were so second best at times on Saturday it was frightening. We were still in the game at 2-1 because they had missed some chances and we hoped that we would find that second goal but they went 3-1 up minutes into the second half and it was downhill from there.

“Not one of our players performed like they can or to the level we expect. We have to be much better than that and the players know that.

“What we have to do is bounce back. We have bounced back from heavy defeats in this league before when we have conceded five goals and learnt a lot from that.

“It is my job to build them up over the week and make sure we are ready for Colchester. We will try and build up from lost confidence.

The boss added: “We had a couple of good results going into the MK Dons game and the result and performance put a real blemish on what we had achieved over the week.”
