Fringe Players Have Chance To Impress

8 September 2014

Steve Davis says door open in quest to secure a place in the squad for derby day.

Crewe Alexandra’s Under-21 side are in action against Colchester United this evening at the Alexandra Stadium. The Under-21 team is taken by first team coach James Collins and will provide some of the fringe contingent a chance to impress ahead of this weekend’s League One encounter against Port Vale.

The likes of George Cooper, Greg Leigh, Callum Saunders, Thierry Audel and Lee Molyneux are all likely to feature. The club have also been granted permission to play trialist Stephane Zubar with a view to signing him on a loan deal. Zubar will be one of our three over-aged players to feature.

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “We have an Under-21 fixture against Colchester and that will be one of the games we will play at the Stadium. It will give those who haven’t played recently a chance to play and stake their claim.

“If they perform well this evening they could push themselves into contention for Saturday. Our planning for the game has already started and there are places in the squad available.”
