Steve Davis delighted with Granty's energy levels in derby win

Steve Davis was full of praise for his Crewe Alexandra players after they put in a severe shift to overcome rivals Port Vale on Saturday. Crewe deserved the 2-1 win, especially after an impressive first half performance and although it was backs-against-wall on occasions in the second period the Railwaymen held on for that first league win of the season.

Davis did single out the energetic performance of midfielder Anthony Grant as he helped us get over the line to record a derby victory.

The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “I thought Granty was excellent for us. He had great energy levels and had a great work ethic, closing their players down and breaking forward when he could as well.

“His attitude was great all week and he was really focussed. The signs were good all week from him and he was excellent for us.”
