Boss To Assess International Trio

Steve Davis says International week not ideal for his preparations

Steve Davis plans to check on the condition of his International trio George Ray, Liam Nolan and Marcus Haber before deciding if they are to be involved against Port Vale this weekend.

Ray featured in Wales’ Under-21 defeat to Finland on Friday but was an unused sub for his country’s second game in Lithuania last night.

Liam Nolan also didn’t feature as Northern Ireland Under-21s were beaten 4-1 by a very good Serbian side.

Marcus Haber travelled to Toronto as a member of the Canada squad but he didn’t get any game time as they defeated Jamaica 3-1.

All three are expected to train Thursday with a view to be involved against the Valiants this weekend.

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “The three players will be back on Thursday. Liam has only been away for a few days with Ireland but George and Marcus have been away for eight or nine days.

“There has been a fair amount of travelling involved and we will have to see how that has affected them. They would have been training and it depends how intense that has been as well.

“It is not an ideal way to prepare for a match at the weekend, but it is something you have to accept and get on with. There is not a lot we can do about it and on the other hand it is the ultimate honour for the players to be called up by their countries.”
