Davis challenges French defender to find consistent streak
Steve Davis has challenged his French born defender Thierry Audel to build on his impressive performance against Yeovil Town and demonstrate that he could establish himself as a first-team regular at Crewe.
Audel was a surprise starter ahead of Adam Dugdale at Huish Park, but his defensive display helped the Railwaymen pick up their first away point of the season. Audel, 27, was rightly praised by the coaching staff and supporters after starting his first game for the club for almost a year.
Of course, Davis may decide to bring back the more experienced Dugdale for the difficult encounter at Stadium:mk, but he wants Audel to continue to improve and challenge for a first-team place.
Steve told crewealex.net: “Thierry deserved his chance. He has been training well and impressing in the Under-21s and we are always telling the players that the way they train and perform in the Under-21s is important. It gives them a chance to impress.
“Thierry has done that and he did well for us on Tuesday. I’m sure he has changed a few people’s opinions with that performance, but we have said to him one game is not enough.
“He has got to do it on a consistent basis to become a regular in the team. Thierry is like anyone else here, he is looking for that consistency.
“If he plays this weekend against the MK Dons then it will be a different test for him. I would think it is a more difficult one because MK Dons have better forwards to Yeovil and that is not being disrespectful to Yeovil.

The boss added: “Thierry has given himself something to build on and has to keep going.”
