Crewe hopeful that striker will be fit to travel to Yeovil

Crewe Alexandra are hoping that forward Vadaine Oliver will be fit enough to travel to Yeovil for tomorrow night’s League One clash at Huish Park. Oliver, who scored Crewe’s second goal in our 2-1 win over Port Vale at the weekend, was on the receiving end of a nasty whack during the local derby and was withdrawn in the second half.

Following the challenge, Oliver had a graze from his chest to his groin, but it is hoped that he will fit to travel.

Manager Steve Davis said of the derby match winner: “Vadaine was on the receiving end of a whack on Saturday and he had studs marks from his chest to his groin. It was a nasty one but he will want to play after scoring his first goal of the season and playing well.

“He has had a bit of a recovery day today and I’m sure he will be fine and will be able to travel with us. He should recover and we need him because Callum (Saunders) has a foot injury and we are short of forward players.”
