Steve looking forward to going to battle with Steven Pressley once again
Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis is looking forward to meeting up with his counterpart at Coventry City on Saturday. Steve has got to know the Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley fairly well from coaching courses and he says that the former Hearts and Glasgow Rangers defender is doing a splendid job with Coventry City.
The Sky Blues have received a major boost with their return to their impressive Ricoh Arena Stadium back in September and they have recently received assurances that the purchase of a 250-year lease by Wasps Rugby Club will only further safeguard their stay at the Stadium. Pressley has also agreed a new contract which has only settled the club down further following their enforced move to Northampton and a period of administration last season.
Ahead of this weekend’s fixture at Gresty Road, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We have faced Coventry a few times over the last couple of years and I have got to know Steven (Pressley) from some coaching courses as well. I spoke to him recently at a course and he is a good guy.
“I like him and it will be good to catch up with him after our game at the weekend. I think he has done a great job at Coventry under difficult circumstances. He has lost a few players and brought a few new ones in.
“I would imagine his budget was reduced after what they lost financially last season when they were forced to move to Northampton. Now they are back at that stadium and it is a much better situation for them.
He added: “Steven has made them difficult to break down and has been able to keep things tight in a 3-5-2 formation, so we know it will be another difficult game but one to look forward to.”
