Nolan Believes He Can Add Goals

Liam wants to chip in with more goals from midfielder

Despite a tough start to the 2014/15 season, Alex midfielder Liam Nolan is still enjoying the experience of being in-and-around the first-team. The Liverpool-born youngster recently returned to the Crewe Alexandra starting line-up at Bradford City to make his 18th appearance for the first-team.

The Northern Ireland Under-21 International is now hoping that he can retain his place for the visit of Coventry City this weekend.

Nolan, 20, believes that there is more to come from him and possessing a decent shot could see him break his duck at senior level sooner rather than later. Although never prolific for the Academy, Nolan could always chip in with an effort from long-range on occasions.

Nolan told the club’s official web-site: "Although the results have not gone for us this season in the majority of the games, it’s been good on a personal level because I’ve improved on last season and played more games.

“Obviously as a team it’s been disappointing so far in terms of the results we have been getting. Hopefully I can stay in the team for as long as possible and continue to improve.

“Hopefully I can try and get forward more and make more opportunities for myself rather than just restricting it to holding back. I’d like to get into that position where I am getting more shots off to snatch the odd goal. It comes with a bit of confidence.

“The more I play and the more confident I get, the more I want to shoot, to get into those dangerous positions so that I can have a go.

Liam added: “Although we have not got as many points as we have liked, the spirit is still good. We’re a real unit here and we all stick together. We’ve had a few team meetings and we all know our roles and what we need to look at, it might be just a case of cutting out the mistakes on the pitch and then I think we’ll see a big upturn.”
