Defender on stand-by for his first game back for seven months
arry Davis could be line for his first start for over seven months at Crawley Town this weekend, if the experienced Alan Tate does not shake off a groin problem. Tate, on loan from Swansea City, has not trained in the early part of the week as a precaution after complaining of tightness in the muscle.H
With George Ray suspended following his red card against Sheffield United last weekend, the Alex boss is not taking any chances with his central defenders ahead of the trip to face John Gregory’s side.
Defender Davis has not featured for the first-team even since suffering a knee injury in training back in March, but he has now completed three 90 minutes and made a couple of 75 minutes appearances for the club’s Development Squad.
Manager Steve Davis told crewealex.net: “It is good to have Harry back with us and available for selection again. He is ready to play.
“He has completed three 90 minutes and a further 75 minutes in a couple of other development squad games. There are only so many of those games you can play because of the intensity of them.
“He experienced a tougher game against Nottingham Forest on Monday but he lasted that one well and after so long out, he just wants to get back playing. “
