Passionate defender talks to Crewe Alex Player
Adam Dugdale is hoping he will be back in the fold away at Bradford City this weekend. The central defender is expected to replace the injured George Ray to partner the on-loan Swansea City defender Alan Tate at Valley Parade. Dugdale replaced Ray against Notts County after his team-mate was forced off with a groin injury and now the Liverpool-born defender is hoping to re-establish himself in the Crewe side after missing the last three games.
Dugdale helped Crewe record their first league win of the season against Port Vale but he was then left out for the trip to Yeovil Town for Thierry Audel. A bout of illness then saw him miss a couple of days training and that coincided with the arrival of Tate from South Wales.
Now after missing three games before his outing against the Magpies on Tuesday night, the centre-half is determined to help the club turn around their disappointing start to the season.
Adam told Crewe Alex Player: “The dressing room is down at the moment, it was probably the lowest I had seen it after the game on Tuesday night. We have not been good enough and I understand the fans frustration. If I was a fan I would be thinking the same because of some of the results we have had.
“All we can do is stick together and as a group get out it. The management and players have to turn it around and it is difficult to put a finger on why we are struggling at the moment.
“Every player who is picked has to go out there and do their job. Too many of us are not doing that at the moment to the level we can.
“We shouldn’t be talking about working hard because for me that is bread and butter. That shouldn’t even be discussed because if you don’t work hard you have got no chance.”
