Davis Says He Has Options To Change

Steve Davis hints at introducing fresh legs with two games in the space of four days

Steve Davis has hinted that with two home matches coming up against Peterborough United and Sheffield United this week, he may look to freshen up his team to cope with a tough double header. The Alex host Peterborough United this evening and will be looking to extend our unbeaten run to three matches following hard earned victories against Coventry and Walsall.

Steve is aware that some of his younger players have struggled to play two games in a short space of time and he may change to provide more legs against Darren Ferguson’s promotion chasing side.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We have struggled at times to play two games in a short space of time. That can happen when you have a young group and some players take longer to recover than others.

“Will the two home games we have this week we will continue to assess the players and take some out if we need to. If they struggle physically then we have enough in the squad to make those changes.

“The ones who are currently out of the side have to keep themselves going and be ready because they are sure to get their opportunities at some point. It has been like that for us for much of the season.

The boss added: “The bench is looking a lot stronger and we still have one or two to come back into it, so I have options to freshen things up if I need to.”
