Boss On FA Cup Draw

28 October 2014

Steve pleased with home draw against Blades

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that our FA Cup opponents Sheffield United ‘won’t fancy a return to Gresty Road’ after we were drawn against each other in the first round of the competition. It means Crewe’s next home game will be against Nigel Clough’s Blades with the probable date to be Saturday 8th November unless the fixture is chosen for television.

Sheffield United won 1-0 on Saturday thanks to Stefan Scougall’s second half goal.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “The FA Cup is what it is and all you can ask for really, is a home draw. I don’t think Sheffield United will particularly fancy the tie at Gresty Road again and having home advantage gives us a slight advantage.

“If we had been drawn at Bramall Lane it would have been an even more difficult tie for us.

“They had a great following on Saturday and I’m sure they will bring a similar amount again so it should be a great atmosphere and an occasion to look forward to.

He added: “We played them on Saturday so we will know what to expect and it will be another tough game for us.”
