Steve Davis says the Alex dressing room cannot wait for Sheffield United test

Steve Davis says his team will have to reproduce a similar determined performance against Sheffield United as they did against Peterborough United on Tuesday night if we are maintain our unbeaten run. Crewe overcome second placed Peterborough on Tuesday night thanks to Marcus Haber’s winning spot-kick and Davis is looking for a similar resolute display at Gresty Road tomorrow.

Steve told crewealex.net: “It could be a similar type of game to Tuesday night when we had to work hard to get the result. We had to show real resilience and courage and I was delighted that we came through it against one of the top sides.

“Results and performances like that only breeds’ confidence amongst the players. They will see that they can give anyone a game and they are looking forward to the Sheffield United game now. They cannot wait for the games to come around now.

“It will be another tough game against a top side at this level. They have a massive supporter base and perhaps should be playing a higher level. That is the pressure they have to live with as a big club at this level because everyone will be expecting them to win promotion.

“Nigel (Clough) has done a great job since going in there. He has them organised and they are always competitive. Nigel likes pace in the wide areas and they have some good players.

“We have prepared for them and looked at how they will approach it. We are in good form ourselves and it is just another exciting fixture to look forward to.”
