Alex boss Steve Davis says he will continue to work to improve us in the final third
Steve Davis says he and his coaching staff will continue to improve Crewe Alexandra’s firepower out on the training ground. The Alex boss says that finding that prolific goal scorer is the main aim for most managers and he is still searching for that consistent marksman.
Ahead of this weekend’s home game against Chesterfield at the Alexandra Stadium, the Alex boss said: “We have become harder to beat and I’m pleased with that but we can also improve in the final third of the pitch as well.
“Every manager needs those type of forwards, who consistently score goals and they are not easy to find. That is why they go for the most money at whatever level you play at. You try and collect as many as you can to have that competition.
“If one doesn’t do it or is out of form then you can turn to someone else. It is such an important position and you can see the difference Costa makes at Chelsea and Aguero at Manchester City. Liverpool have struggled because they have lost theirs.
“We have become tighter but we also need to create more and work with the forward players we have. We work hard improve them out on the training ground and work on their finishing and building their confidence in front of goal.
“In all the successful teams I’ve been involved with both as a manager and as a player, I’ve had forwards and midfield players capable of scoring a lot of goals.”
