Ikpeazu delighted to be back at the Alex
On loan Uche Ikpeazu has revealed to Crewe Alex Player that he spoke with his former Crewe Alexandra team-mate Chuks Aneke about his return to South Cheshire. The Watford striker returned to the Alexandra Stadium for a two-month loan spell after his close pal Aneke again endorsed what his own loan spells here did for his own career.
Aneke is now playing in the Belgium top division for Zulte Waregem following his release from Arsenal.
January.thIkpeazu, who scored five goals in his 10 starts for the club last season, says that the draw of playing in front of the Alex faithful was also a deciding factor in him returning to Crewe until 25
After signing his latest loan agreement, Uche told Crewe Alex Player: “I spoke to Chuks before I came here last season and he said Crewe helped him greatly and that’s why he is where he is today.
“I then spoke to him again recently and he told me that I should come back and play games now and I agreed with him.
“He said he felt like a Crewe player, and I feel like one because at the end of the day the manager obviously likes me and rates me and that’s a positive so I do feel part of it here now. I feel welcomed and it’s good to feel liked around here.
“I always see the fans tweeting me on Twitter saying I should come back and stuff which makes me smile so my message to them hasn’t changed. I have to work hard, I want to score goals , I believe I’ll score goals – I’ll just give my 100% and we’ll see what happens.
Uche added: “It’s really nice that they’ve given me that backing from when I was here and since then too on social media. It gives me that little bit extra confidence as well knowing that I have fans behind me that believe in me and like me, it’s very encouraging and I appreciate it.”
