Boss will talk to his captain to see if he is ready for return to the Alex squad

Steve Davis says he will hold talks with his captain Matt Tootle to see if he is physically ready to return to first-team action at Leyton Orient this weekend. Tootle has successful got a few days of training under his belt after overcoming a nasty virus that saw his lose a significant amount of weight in a short space of time. Tootle has missed the club’s four games as he recovers.

The Crewe Alexandra boss told crewealex.net: “I will have a chat with Matt to see how he feels physically and what his frame of mind is, because he suffered with a bad virus and it took a lot of him.

“He has trained for almost a week now and has got over that initial soreness when he first came back. We will assess him today and see where he is before we decide whether to take him or not.”
