Midfielder pleased to still be in the hat after battling display
November for the replay.thAnthony Grant is just pleased that Crewe Alexandra remain in the FA Cup after being involved in a hard fought tussle with Sheffield United at the weekend. Crewe had to contain Nigel Clough’s side for a large proportion of the First Round tie, but a third clean-sheet in six games now means Crewe travel to Bramall Lane on 18
Midfielder Grant demonstrated those battling qualities with another man-of-the-match performance in Saturday’s goalless draw and although the Railwaymen face a difficult assignment to progress into Round Two, Grant says there are plenty of positives to take from the game.
Anthony told crewealex.net: “We stayed in the game and defended well. We are still in the competition and we are pleased to still be in the hat.
“There were positives to take from the game because they beat us 1-0 two weeks ago and this time they didn’t get in behind us and score. We went into the game wanting to win but it was also important we didn’t lose because we want to be in the FA Cup.
“We defended well but we know we could have created more as well. We have to try and improve that and be more dangerous but it was a battle and the lads came through.
Grant added: “It is good for Ben Garratt and the defenders to get clean-sheets and we are showing that we are harder to beat now.”
