Goalkeeper praises those in front of him after mini-revival
Goalkeeper Ben Garratt has been quick to praise the contribution of those in front of him after keeping three clean-sheets in his last five matches. The Shrewsbury-born stopper has been in exceptional form himself as well, saving a recent penalty from Sheffield United’s Jose Baxter in a Man-of-the-Match performance.
Garratt, 20, has told Crewe Alex Player that keeping clean-sheets and seeing Crewe become harder to beat has only enhanced his own confidence.
Ben said: “I’m delighted with the way thing are going at the moment and so are the staff. There have been some games recently where I haven’t been that busy and that is great credit to the lads.
“Confidence comes from getting good results and having clean-sheets, so as a goalkeeper I feell confident at the moment.
"Being a goalkeeper you’re no different to any other position, I’ve always got the competition with Scott (Shearer) and he’s pushing me all the way so I know I’ve got to be playing well to keep the shirt.
Ben added: “We have given ourselves a great chance in the last few weeks and we want to move out of the bottom places as quickly as possible. Hopefully we can go again and get a good result against Chesterfield on Saturday. “
