Club hope winger will be able to play a part over busy Christmas period

Steve Davis has revealed that the club will continue to build up winger Ryan Colclough until he is 100% right to return to competitive action. The talented teenager is close to missing a year of football after needing surgery to solve a problematic hernia. Colclough has not featured for Crewe Alexandra since last November when he came on against local neighbours Port Vale.

Colclough has visited a consultant this week to check on his progress and he will continued to be eased back into training. It is hoped that the Stoke-on-Trent born wide man will return for the busy Christmas period but he will have to work on his match fitness level within the Development Squad first.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Ryan is continuing to make progress and visited a consultant this week for a check up.

“He trained last week and was a bit sore but that is to be expected. We will ease him back in because we don’t want him to suffer a set-back after all he has gone through. It has been a frustrating time for him but he is getting there and we will build him up until he is right.”
