Boss to remains cautious with fit-again Ryan Colclough
Steve Davis says forward Ryan Colclough will have to continue making ‘little steps instead of one giant one’ as he steps-up his rehabilitation from a problematic hip and hernia problem. The Staffordshire-born Colclough has not featured since a brief substitute appearance against Port Vale in November last year. Now after almost 12 months out of the game, the talented 19 year-old is training with the first team again.
The club will remain cautious with Coco though following his injury frustration and boss Davis will continue to introduce him into full training on a regular basis over a gradual period.
“Ryan joined with the session on Wednesday. He did the whole session with the smaller group we had in the Dome.
Steve Davis says that his wide man is making significant strides but that they are focussed on him not having any set-backs.
“He was a bit sore the following day, so we took him out again. We will ease him in gradually because we are looking for him to avoid any set-backs because he has been out for a long time.
“It is small steps with Ryan rather than one giant one. He is making inroads but it is important that we monitor his progress and set a programme to make sure he comes back stronger.
The boss added: “He will continue to train with us and then we will assess how he is the following day before we allow him to train again. “
