Alex boss wary of Chesterfield threat
place with 20 points, but come into this weekend’s game on the back of one win in their last six. That victory came in emphatic style last weekend in the FA Cup when they won 6-0 at Braintree.thCrewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis expects another tough home game against Paul Cook’s Chesterfield side this weekend. The Alex manager has been impressed with the way last season’s League Two Champions have adjusted to life in the higher league. Cook’s side are handily placed in 11
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Chesterfield had a good start to the season and were able to carry that momentum on from what they achieved in League Two.
“They have some good players and have welcomed one or two of them back recently. Gary Roberts is on the way back now and is an influential player for them. He was the Player-of-the-Year in League Two last season and with the ability he has he should be playing at this level at the very least.
“We know Sam Clucas well as he was a player we looked at a couple of year ago but he decided to move to Mansfield instead.
“Sam Morsy is a player I know from when he was at Port Vale. We had a look at him here when he was released by Wolves and he has that fire in his belly when he plays. I wouldn’t want him to lose that from his game because he is a real competitor.
“Sam is also neat and tidy in possession and he is a good lad as well. I got to know him a bit through Joe (Davis) when he was at Port Vale and he has done really well for Chesterfield.
He added: “There are good players in every team in this league and of course it would affect any team to lose one or two of those key players for any length of time. They are getting them back now and that is bound to make a difference to them.”
